Skate4AIR Classic

The ninth edition of the Skate4AIR Classic is scheduled for Tuesday, January 22th 2019. This alternative Elfstedentocht (the original event is a typically Dutch, 200 km long skating track going to eleven cities in the province of Friesland) on the Austrian Weissensee is organized in an effort to dramatically boost the funding for the research into Cystic Fibrosis.

 
Former two times Olympic Champion Jochem Uytdehaage has been a Skate4AIR ambassador since 2011. He supports the aims of Skate4AIR full-heartedly because a niece of his is suffering from this disease. Jochem, obviously, is one of the participants, in an effort to raise a considerable amount of money and at the same time raise awareness for this non-profit organization and its activities.
 

All participants are obliged to pay their own travel and accommodation. Moreover, they are committed to raise a sponsorship of 750 euro. When registering, an original Skate4AIR skating suit will be provided. The following distances can be challenged: 100, 150 and 200 km. Targeted at the Skate4AIR participants, in the run-up to the event three skating clinics will be organized. This will provide you with an opportunity to get acquainted with other participants, in addition Jochem Uytdehaage and Duosport professional skating instructors will be putting finishing touches to your skating qualities.

 
The Skate4AIR skaters are making every effort to raise money for research aimed at improving the longevity and quality of life of Cystic Fibrosis patients. The first eight editions have yielded an amount of over 2.6 million euro, applied to realize outstanding and ground-breaking research adding considerably to fighting this agonizing disease.
